A warming glow, the candles know
Their number counts the years
Your loving light still holds the night
The winding path still clear
Through fading light, through changing days
Love finds its deeper ways
What time may take, it can’t erase
The gift of seeing grace
As colors fade, the vows we made
When passion staked its claim
Those sunny days, through time’s soft haze
The blessing stays the same
Your waning sight, now not so bright
Needs gentle help to see
Yet every day, thankful I stay
For what you’ve seen in me

Jamison! This is so sweet it drew me to tears! Our mutual friend, Debi Marquette, put a poem I wrote for my husband to music. I wrote it for our 50th wedding anniversary on December 13th, unaware this music technology even exsisted. I couldn’t believe how beautiful it turned out. You’ve inspired me by example and with heart. Your wife is a blessed woman!
Your fan and friend,
Sally Law
Thank you for coming over to read/listen to this piece, Sal. It is such an honor to have you here.
The music technology has indeed progressed and brings new life to our poetry. But… we will always be writers first. I was a musician before I attempted to become a writer, so it’s a bit of a natural combination for me.
I don’t get out to FanStory as much these days but will never leave entirely. Far too many friendships there to think about that.
Again, thank you for being here.
As always beautiful and meaningful. Love your poems to music. FW
I enjoy the music… a cool way to repurpose some old poems. Thank you, Ferrell.
Someone on FS recently put one of his poems to music and it was, like yours, a magnificent success. This is how you have the words to your poetry remembered, as we seldom forget the lyrics to songs – even those we have heard in decades.
Beautiful!
Have a lovely Christmas, Jamison.

Thank you, Pam, for coming over here to read (and listen). I will catch up with you on FS as soon as I can. Reach out via email if you post something and I miss it.
Such a beautiful tribute to your love for you and your sweet and beautiful wife.
I’m blessed, Betty. As always, thank you for your kind words and encouragement.
Lucky is the person to whom those beautiful words are sung. Amazing work!
There’s no doubt—I am the lucky one. Thank you, Carri.
Jamison, this is an amazing poem. It so smoothly had me feeling the rhythm of it as I tenderly sang along. What a beautiful and touching piece of art. I loved it. Thank you for sharing it with me.
Knowing you sang along means everything. What a tremendous affirmation. Thank you, Debi.
Your poem and song was absolutely beautiful. Taking a poem and giving it a voice through your guitar made it deeply alive. You captured the tenderness of all of us wanting to express our love after many wonderful years together.
Keep up the great work
Bill
How special all those years together are… Thank you, Bill.
Magnificent! The poem is lyrical and moving on its own…
Set to music and blossomed into a song it brings tears to my eyes!
There’s simply nothing better that could be said about this piece. Thank you, K.
Very nicely written, Jim. Very meaningful as we reach these times in our lives.
What might seem to be fading on the outside… can still be shining brightly inside. Thank you, Judy.
So true and elegant. Love knows.
Hearing this as a song made me cry. It brought out deep love. Well now Jim you should take up song writing.
Hard to believe, but I was a songwriter before a story writer… go figure. I’m glad this project meant something to you, Jane. It’s one of my favorites.
