I want to know you, make you mine.
I think about you, all the time.
If you’re ready, just let me know.
It’s our time, just let it go.
Your face, your smile,
A perfect picture, static style.
I love the way you walk away,
But I hope you stay.
I’ll never own you, you’re set free.
Come as you are, just rescue me.
Dreaming of dancing, holding you close,
Times like these, I want you the most.
I’ve been hurt before, so have you.
It feels so different, all brand new.
Take a chance, give in,
I’ll wait to win.
Your face, your smile,
A perfect picture, static style.
I love the way you walk away,
But I hope you stay.

Jamison! You are so dang talented, my friend! Geez, this is is romantic in a non-conventional country-boy way. Beautiful in print and video clip! FABULOUS!
This was a real treat for me … Thank you!
Sal :))
This is one of my favorites, Sal. I’m so glad she stayed…
Just loved this – can’t wait to read more. What a nice touch the music presents, Jim! Keep up the good work. Happy New Year to you and yours!
Thank you, Judy. And Happy New Year!
I agree—the music does add color to the words. But, as has been said, “I’m just a writer with a guitar.” We’ll see how that goes…
Job well done Jim, as always. Happy new year!
Thank you, Katherine. I appreciate you coming by for this. Happy 2026!
Love, Love this! Again amazing writing and adding the music brings the words to life!
This takes us back to the beginning…
Hauntingly beautiful all around!
I suspect many can relate to this poem, Ann. Thank you.
Jim – I can relate to this all the way. We need to talk. It will be a private talk. You must have been following me all my life. This is a fantastic presentation. Keep it going.
There’s a lot of me in these poems, Dick. I look forward to hearing more about how you connected to them. Thank you for the kind words.
I love the way you walk away. But I hope you stay. Wow, what a passionate song and poem. It is beautiful and enticing and I love your play on words.
This very romantic sounding song reads and sounds like his emotions are running high and he is so taken in by her that he isn’t even worried about being hurt again. He wants to take a chance and trying to convince her of the same thing.
So it doesn’t sound like a forbidden love. But it does sound like he is completely head over heels for this woman. It also appears to me that she is a little bit of a tease and I fear she would be crazy to walk away, and not stay. 😊
Fate has a way of correcting our mistakes. We often make bad decisions. Thank you, Debi.
Love this, Jamison.
Those of us who have lived through love and loss will always hope for the magic of feeling safe enough to:
“Take a chance, give in,
I’ll wait to win.”
Great poetry, lovely as lyrics, and the melody is just right to convey hope!
Thank you, K.
