Milestones
Marking good works
Turning pages of time
Cherished memories intertwine
Magic
Reflecting on old paths journeyed
Dreams yet to realize
Future brightens
New dawn
Author’s Notes:
In recognition and celebration of those who will achieve milestones this year.
This butterfly cinquain is a variant of the traditional cinquain form of poetry. It has nine lines with syllable counts of 2-4-6-8-2-8-6-4-2, and it’s structured to visually resemble the wings of a butterfly when centered on a page.
Symbolic significance:
The shape of the butterfly cinquain, resembling the wings of a butterfly, can symbolize transformation and growth. Butterflies are often seen as symbols of change, renewal, and beauty emerging from a phase of development. This can mirror the concept of milestones marking significant points of transformation in one’s life.
The symmetrical structure of the butterfly cinquain can symbolize the balance between past and future, reflection and anticipation, and the intertwining of various aspects of life’s journey.
I guess I have never looked for Milestones in my life or any other’s lives but I will now.
I love Salvador Dali and I see some of it in your art work. Thank you for the poem and art work.
I hadn’t thought about that, but now that you mention it…
Most of my images start with generative AI, and I modify them further in Photoshop. I enjoy the image creation almost as much as the writing. Go figure.
“The Butterfly Cinquain is a nine-line poem. ~~ syllabic, 2/4/6/8/2/8/6/4/2 syllables per line. unrhymed.”
(Okay, so I had to look it up to refresh my memory!)
I love counting forms…and center alignment only enhances them!
Here’s to all the milestones to reach in the coming year!
Very nice, Jamison.
…and to those reaching milestones this year as well. (smile)
Many thanks, K.
Like the art work!
Thanks, El. Photoshop is our friend, right?
