Indivisible

Red—White
Starved stripes divide
Out of one, now many
Stars adrift in a sea of hate—
And Blue.

Author’s Notes:

Poetic form: Cinquain (2-4-6-8-2)

A reflection on fractured unity and the hope that acknowledging our division is the first step toward healing it. Patriotism isn’t silence—it is the courage to speak truth in love.

This poem is the second part of a trilogy exploring the American experiment—its founding ideals, its fractures, and the enduring hope of renewal.

Part I: “The Fourth of Forever” | Part II: “Indivisible” | Part III: “The Declaration: Then and Now”
