A quick kiss. Expensive cologne. Too strong.
She pulls away as 1989 becomes 1990. She tolerates the man beside her.
Toasts rise. She barely notices. She aches. Unfamiliar. Tiny ripples come and go in the champagne glass sheās been holding for hours.
She asks him for the room key. A familiar hand obliges but follows.
He’s drunk. She leaves him sleeping. She canāt stay hereānot anymore.
The parking garage is desolate. Her car. Their first kiss. The tears come.
Beside the elevator, the glow of a payphone. She remembers their late-night talks, his small apartment across town. Enough.
More tears. More ache.
The bulky telephone receiver is cold and hard in her hand. Her nervous grip tightens as she dials the familiar number.
She holds her breath through each ring.
No answer.
Heās gone. Itās over beforeā¦
The payphone rings.

Once again, a beautiful piece of work from you! What a wonderful ending, but, I hope it isn’t ending! The music just set it off so well Jim. You are certainly a genius!
Thank you, Judy. This will likely not be the last of these…there’s much more to tell.
Another masterpiece. This would be a 300 page love story in a book but you have told it in poetry and lyrics in beautiful music. Absolute genius!!
Keep em coming Jamison, I look forward to your love story every week.
Many thanks, my good friend. It’s indeed a labor of “love”… I appreciate you reading (and listening). More to come…
I am hoping this is not the end of this beautiful love story. I have been waiting for it to all come together and I’m hoping for a happy ever after.
She deserves it after all she has been through. They deserve to be together.
I look forward to every emotional step of this forbidden, but romantic love affair. š
You have chosen a wonderful way to have this unfold for us. Thank you, Jamison!
Unfortunately I wasn’t able to open the song because the screen turned black. I know I missed a lot by not being able to hear it.
It’s not the end… they indeed deserve a “happy ever after.” Thank you, Debi.
A perfect ending. The addition of the violin is lovely and adds a great tiuch.
I’m running out of instruments… The violin is one of my favorites. Thank you, Jane.
It is fascinating how you pull together the magical process of poem, lyrics, music, images…
Love is a storm of epic proportions. I sense that one single beautiful circle has been hampered by a “triangle” and at last choices are coming to light.
The heart wins out, for to deny love is to deny life!
“I TRUST IN US”
This is the perfect refrain, and the fall will be a descent to happiness in each other’s arms…
Beautiful work, Jamison.
I hope you find the publisher or agent that brings your work to the masses!
It’s true: Love is unstoppable. I doubt many things in this world, but when combined in just the right combination, love plus passion is a force that can’t be contained. I can prove it.
Thank you, K.
