As the gun’s cool steel settled into Billy’s small, warm hands, the weight of it felt powerful, almost transformative. He had never held something so significant before.
He aimed carefully, his heart pounding with anticipation. His resolve was unwavering as he steadied his breath and pulled the trigger. Bang. Bang. Bang.
“We have a winner!”
Billy turned, finding little Bobby beaming and cheering, his wheelchair positioned not to miss a thing. It was his first visit to the fair since the accident.

The Evolution of the Shooting Gallery
Shooting galleries, a popular attraction at fairs and amusement parks for many years, have evolved over time. Traditionally, these galleries featured firearms that used live ammunition, but due to safety concerns and other factors, this practice has seen a decline.

This story brings insight into past activities I never previously thought dangerous. These few words are descriptive and insightful in a simple few sentences to bring home the poin.
Sadly, we are now conditioned to expect the worst, where the stakes are high and the outcomes are often deadly. Gone are the carefree days; this story harkens back to those days.
The intriguing thing about this fine writing is it’s the parallel universe to the world we live in, where every report about a gun shooting is most likely a mass shooter going haywire un unsuspecting innocents. As I finished the piece, I couldn’t help but overlay the news with your fiction and wonder if “Bobby” was in the wheelchair because of some crazed mass shooter. That’s how closely our synapses fire!
Wow. Does life mimic art or is the reverse true? Great stuff here!
So true, K. We do live in an upside down world.
